HEMP QUOTES
The greatest service that can be rendered to any country is to add a useful plant to its culture. ~ Thomas Jefferson - Former President & Hemp Farmer
Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth and protection of the country. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Why use up forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which require ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of the hemp fields. ~ Henry Ford (Automaker)
Anything that can be grown to provide industry with manufacturing materials will bring new revenue to agriculture. ~ Henry Ford
The best possible working plan for a man in our civilization is to have one foot on the soil and the other in industry. ~ Henry Ford
I believe that the great Creator has put ores on this earth to give us a breathing spell. As we exhaust them, we must be prepared to fall back on our farms, which is God's true storehouse and can never be exhausted. We can learn to synthesize material for every human need from things that grow. ~ George Washington Carver
Although we give lip service to the notion of freedom, we know the government is no longer the servant of the people but, at last , has become the people's master. We have stood by like timid sheep while the wolf killed - first the weak, then the strays, then those on the outer edges of the flock, until at last the entire flock belonged to the wolf. ~ Gerry Spence
The same people own the media that own the White House that own the Congress that own the oil fields. They all work together to give a false view of the world to the American people. ~ Gore Vidal
Good is that which promotes life. Evil is that which destroys it. ~ Dr. Albert Schweitzer
Even when you're a minority of one, the truth is the truth. ~ Mohandas K. Ghandi

* * * HEMP SEEDS as FOOD * * *
Industrial Hemp can aid the world by making a significant positive impact as a renewable alternative to our environmentally destructive products and practices. Industrial hemp was one of the first plants to be cultivated by man, it has many beneficial uses but it was forgotten when hemp was associated with marijuana and outlawed in 1937. Hemp seed is not psychoactive and cannot be used as a drug!
There are three million plus edible plants that grow on earth, yet no other plant source can compare with the nutritional value of hemp seeds. It is known to contain a precursor of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, E, B1, B2, B3 and Vitamin B6. Its mineral content includes phosphorus, calcium, potassium, silica, sulphur, magnesium and modest amounts of zinc.
It also contains the 9 amino acids our body cannot produce, 20 amino acids in total. Proteins are considered complete when they contain all 9 essential amino acids in a sufficient quantity to meet the body's needs. Hemp seed meets the requirements for a well balanced diet!
Is it any wonder why, in ancient Sanskrit manuscript it is referred to as "bhanga indracana", meaning The food of The Gods".
HEMP SEED OIL
Hemp seed oil contains about 47 percent oil, 78 percent of which is Omega 6 and Omega 3, the essential fatty acids. In addition, it also contains smaller amounts of three other polyunsaturated fatty acids in gama-linolenic acid (GLA), oleic acid and steridonic acid.
It has all the essential Omega fatty acids required for human health, it contains three times more Omega 3 than does any fish, without being contaminated with mercury or other toxins. Hemp seed oil is considered to be one of natures most perfectly balanced oils, because it contains a nearly perfect balance, a 3.75 to 1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 essential fatty acids.
This essential fatty acid content is unique among edible oil seeds! These essential fatty acids (EFA's) cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained in our diet.
* * * BENEFITS of TAKING HEMP SEED OIL * * *
Sixty five percent of proteins in hemp seeds are "edestin", which acts as a precursor to such vital components as hemoglobin, hormones, enzymes and antibodies. The edestin content is only found in hemp seeds, this makes it more digestible than soy which contains oligosaccharides which cause stomach upset and gas. It is easily digested because it is primarily composed of edestin and albumin that are components of human blood plasma. Edestin aids the body's cellular needs such as DNA repair.
Hemp seed oil products are ideal for ensuring that an adequate, complete and easily digestible protein is found for all of mankind including the vegan or vegetarian diet.
Caution: Highly unsaturated oils such as hemp seed oil are denatured by heating above 150 degrees C (300 degrees F), which can result in the production of unhealthy trans-fatty acids and increase peroxide values. Use hemp seed oil as a flavor enhancer in many recipes. Do not use as a substitute for frying oils. Keep bottles tightly sealed after opening and store in the refrigerator or freezer.
Daily recommended allowance of hemp seed oil is 14 to 28 ml (1 to 2 tablespoons). This allowance provides between 8 to 16 grams of Omega 6 and between 3 to 6 grams of Omega 3.
HEMP HEARTS
After the oil is removed from the hemp seed, the seeds are shelled, (removal of the hard outer covering of the seed). What one ends up with are called Hemp Hearts or in powdered form, Hemp Protein Powder. Hemp hearts will supply the diet with the need essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, with the essential amino acids and chlorophyll.
Industrial hemp contains all of the required proteins in the best proportions for human nutrition. It contains more digestible protein than most meat, fish. whole eggs. cows milk, cheese, soya or any other high protein food. It is an excellent source of protein for everyone; mothers, babies, Martial Artists, Olympic athletes, Body Builders, convalescents or the elderly.
Anyone who starts their day with a balanced meal of the required nutrients, will be able to avoid the less beneficial aspects of "modern day eating" and can expect much better health in terms of energy, without the high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, and other late onset health concerns.

- Improves cardiovascular circulation and function.
- Improves LDL cholesterol levels, thereby lowering blood pressure.
- Helps our immunity levels to fight and resist infections and prevents allergies from developing.
- Hemp seed oil hooks up with oxygen, electron transport and energy in the process of oxidation. Oxidation helps us with the "burning" of food (digestion) to produce energy.
- EFA's help our bodies to construct membranes, to create electrical potentials. and to move electric currents throughout the body.
- Improves body organ functions. EFA deficiencies are related to Cancer, Diabetes. Multiple Sclerosis, Behavioral Problems. PMS, Menstrual Cramps, Reduces Inflammation and the symptoms of Arthritis, Skin Afflictions, poor wound healing, Sterility...
- It helps with the healing of many degenerative diseases, it increases our energy level and metabolic rate.
- The ability of EFA's to disperse toxins in our biological system gives it the power to carry them to the surface of the skin, from our intestinal tract, kidney and lungs, to where these toxins can be discarded.
- Hemp oil contains chlorophyll. (Humans = Iron in blood. Plants = Magnesium in blood)

HEALTH BENEFITS from EATING HEMP HEARTS
Increased Energy: Eating 4 to 5 tbs. of hemp hearts will result in a natural protein powered energy boost. You will not require a "coffee fix" as soon as you get up from bed; you will not need pastries, candies, chocolate bars or sweet sugared drinks to get you through the afternoon!
Weight Management: If you consume 4 to 5 tbs. of hemp hearts with your morning meal, wholegrain cereal and fruits, oatmeal, yogurt...expect to be free of hunger until mid afternoon. Depending on your health and weight you may choose to skip lunch completely. Many people choose to drink a herbal tea in the afternoon when they first get hungry, then you can choose to have a healthy salad in the evening. Doing so you can look to loosing 1 pound per day.
Remember to avoid or cut down on products made with white sugar, white flour, potatoes, pasta and rice, and remember not to overcompensate for fasting by eating more.
Improved Digestion: You will find that you no longer suffer with constipation, it will be reduced or eliminated. It is impossible to be constipated while eating significant amounts of hemp hearts. Highly processed foods, especially starches can cause constipation. A healthy diet aids digestion and will create better health, you can expect to eliminate after every meal leaving the colon empty much of the time.
Persons who eat mostly starches will not empty out the colon until there is little space remaining and the fiber-less wastes have become compacted. These persons will carry their wastes for relatively long periods of time creating illnesses, toxemia and disease.
Also: The outer shell is a form of insoluble fiber, which when broken down, becomes a cleansing agent for the digestive tract and is an effective intestinal lubricant.
Hemp Hearts are easily adapted to good dietary eating, they can be added to shakes, fruit smoothies, can be made into hemp milk, used on hot or cold cereals, placed into pitas, sandwiches, cakes, cookies, placed into stir-fries, casseroles, breads, squares and pastries...
On must not forget about the essential fatty acids contained in Hemp hearts that are of value in aiding our immune system response to many late onset health concerns. - (Omega 3, Omega 6 & GLA)
"In the old country the peasants ate hemp butter. They were more resistant to disease than the nobility". The higher-class wouldn't eat hemp because the poor eat it. ~ R. Hamilton, ED.D., Ph.D., Medical Researcher - Biochemist U.C.L.A. Emeritus.
Hemp Products are not genetically modified, they are gluten free, lactose free, tryspin inhibitor free, herbicide and pesticide free, free from the allergic reaction caused by peanuts, suitable for those unable to eat sugar, nuts, fish and meat. A kosher food, Vegan & Vegetarian approved. There are no known allergens to Hemp Hearts!
Note: Tryspin inhibitor free, tryspin inhibitors block protein absorption.
Why is Industrial Hemp Better for the Environment than other Food Crops
Hemp usually requires very little fertilizer, it grows well almost everywhere. It is pest resistant so it needs no pesticides. Using less fertilizer and pesticides is good for two reasons; first it costs less and requires less effort. Second; many agricultural chemicals are harmful to the environment the less we use the better. Industrial hemp is also drought resistant.
Hemp puts down deep roots up to 6 feet, when turned back into the soil it enriches it. Also the leaves that fall off the hemp plant are rich in minerals and nitrogen, these are also returned to the soil to enrich it. This extensive root system also helps to alleviate the problem of soil compaction. Hemp has been grown on the same soil for more than twenty years without any noticeable soil depletion.
Many Governments Use Hemp Seeds as an Emergency Food in Case of Starvation
The U.S. Government confirmed the Value of Hemp with an Executive Order, the President designated hemp as a strategic crop of importance to national security (EO 12919, June 3 1994,
Federal Regulation 29525).
Personally I find this rather hypocritical of U.S. politicians to have banned a food product, in a time when the price of food is on the rise due to high gas prices. Here we have an Executive Order, "telling us that it is a strategic crop of national importance" and still they lay hold to the false claim that Industrial Hemp is Marijuana. If politicians really want to help foreign nations, why don't they teach them about Industrial Hemp, its many uses, it can provide food for starving nations, shelter, clothing... At the same time it will make jobs available to American workers!
I am proud that since March 1998 Canada has had the foresight to legalize Industrial Hemp Farming. Hemp farming has a significant role to play in mankind's future. It will help the farm economy, our health, and will contribute to a "Whole Earth" solution, it will aid mankind to overcome starvation problems in different countries and reduce the environmental pollution problems we now face.

HEMP CLOTHES
The Columbia History of the World states that the oldest relic of human history is a piece of hemp fabric dating back to approximately 8,000 B.C. Hemp was used for weaving in Greece centuries before the time of Christ and was harvested in most of Europe during the middle ages.
In early Canadian history hemp was one of our first agricultural imports. It was common practice for tracts of land to be issued to settlers in Canada on the provision that they grow hemp. Hemp produces the strongest, most durable natural fiber on Earth! Up until the 1880's, up to 70 percent of all textile and fabric for clothes, linens, canvas and cordage was made from hemp.
Is cotton a wise choice for clothing? Is cotton a wise choice for our environment (our planet)?
These Questions will be answered for you by the following information.
Hemp vs. Cotton
In 1995 U.S. farmers applied 1/3 of a pound of chemical pesticides for every pound of cotton harvested. The chemicals used in cotton agriculture are among the most toxic as classified by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Currently in the U.S. 1500 lakes have been contaminated with pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer runoff, to the point where nothing can live in them!
**Cotton is grown on 3% of the earths best arable land and uses 26% of the worlds pesticide.**
Cotton is a very thirsty plant that demands heavy soil irrigation, that drains the land of its natural water supply. Cotton exhausts the soil forcing farmers to rely heavily on chemical fertilizers. In developing countries, pesticide and fertilizer regulations are less stringent and the environmental damage is more severe.
Cotton likes the warmer southern states, hemp can be grown right here in Canada. Hemp can grow without the need for fungicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers! This means that there are no polluted lakes to be found where hemp is farmed. Hemp is ecologically friendly!
An acre of land will produce 2 to 3 times as much fiber as cotton, about 1,000 pounds per acre.
Hemp is four times softer than cotton. It is also fire retardant. It has the ability to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The fabric also does not accumulate static electricity.
Hemp softens with each washing, without fiber degradation. Hemp doesn't wear out, it wears in. It is frequently blended with organic cotton, silk or bamboo to produce a variety of fabrics with attractive properties.
It is anti-microbial, anti-mildew, will not mold or rot, and also takes on Eco-safe plant based dyes. it is the most durable of natural fibers, it is 3.3 percent more durable than cotton. Hemp breathes well and wicks away moisture from the body better than cotton.
It has the ability to effectively reflect up to 95 percent of Ultraviolet rays, while cotton reflects only 30 percent. Spectral analysis of fiber using ions registered nine elements beneficial for health in much higher quantities than any other fabric. ( The Institute of Chinese Academy of Science).
Research on hemp clothing at Washington State University confirms that hemp has a positive effect on the human skin. It is said to stimulate the glands, quickens the division of skin cells, and facilitates the harmonization of the condition of the nervous system. It also stated that the hollow parts of the fiber ensure hydrogen uptake, protecting the skin from bacteria.
Is it any wonder why people wearing hemp clothing, "state that it makes them feel that they are protected".
Clothes made from hemp have their own personality; according to legend hemp is alive!
